TRANSITIONING TO TECH (T++) Welcome on Board!

Brown Modern Good Morning (Banner Landscape) (2).jpg Can you hear me screaming you have got this! as loud as I whisper. The greatest definition of an optimist right now, is you and I would not crown you less of a legend you are building, have you an empire by the way? But who contests an empire where there's a state of mind that is magnificently built and highly elated. Your decision of transition as this is undeniably the greatest(treasure to behold).

Your confidence, doubts about what is to come, is the motivation for this ovation and I am right here with cheers basking in the luxury of your praise as you embark on this adventurous ride.

Your passion is right, you are on fire, and if it is about the gold mine, please dive. But before you begin digging, get your collection jars ready and keep this piece of pieces to ride through smoothly.

Have you a place? The tech world is a vast space encompassing several broad areas of technological applications. It is paramount that you define your pursuit to en route self-discovery. Needless to say, it is not less of a struggle. It is quite challenging to stare out at a world of swirling possibilities and outrightly make a choice from the list. There comes that phase of confusion fuelled by comparisons; you have researched the various areas in tech, narrowed down your interest, watched different kickstarting contents on what’s selling, what is easy or stays, joined the controversies on what is best, reached out to friends, or met with a mentor you look up to.

The choice of which and what to do is a function of individual differences, as much as where your desire/quest leads you. It is pertinent to know that none is superior and each has its competitive advantage over others. In a bid to make impact, what problem(s) do you look forward to solving, what duration of time do you have to kickstart this career, what monetary returns/benefit do you look forward to deriving, consider job availability, what is currently relevant or let loose to be driven by what the future holds. Make your research, weigh your options, do it well, and go for it. Find your relevance and keep your feet grounded. “This is your moment, own it”-Oprah Winfrey.

“The better you think, the better decisions you make; the better decisions you make, the better actions you take; the better actions you take, the better results you get- Brian Tracy”.

Found comfort? It is no gainsaying that programming is hard, but so is learning anything new. It can only be harder, as you define it to be, but, of course I do care to know how you feel, all the exhausting moments and the efforts you are making to manage the distress. To think it is strange you are still as stuck as you always were, means you undermine your growth, undervalue your effort and disparate your capacity.

If there is something that requires time, patience and mastery, acquiring knowledge tops it all, only miracles will not fit. You have made a decision of intent and I can feel the breeze of the heat, you did not bargain for. The frustration is real, inevitable and quite discouraging. Most attempt fails as it outweighs the successful ones and maybe always. This is probably your hardest pursuit so far, nothing has questioned your ability as much as this, made you feel at your worst, out of place, drowned in your fears and doubt if you’d ever make it through. This feeling, resonates to the struggle of every developer at the early days of our career.

Safeguard your Luggage: There are several tech organisations that have developed programs, provided tech-hubs geared towards training aspiring individuals to get involved in the tech industry. The decision of where and why, is crucial to your personal set expectations. If it works better at home, with accessible basic amenities, maximise it. If you need a network of developers with physical presence of facilitators, super conducive learning environment, consider a bootcamp. However, for every luggage comes its baggage. Learning at home without a mentor, can be limiting, frustrating, and filled with loads of struggles to figure it all out alone, neither is being locked up in a bootcamp, which consists of individuals of different advantageous backgrounds, years of experience or fast learning pace, which subjects most beginners to intimidation.

The struggle is both real, limit this reality, with a full understanding of the assignment, optimally utilise provided potentials as mentors, facilitators, peers, resources, adhere strictly to your goals, fix your eyes on the prize, secure your strength and power your ability. You will always learn from the errors you make, as long as you do not resign to whatever. For every beginner and every phase of transition comes a share of struggle, you are not alone! Who dares soar where there is no height and after all said and done, you chose right.

Ready to Fly: In the light of this, may I ride you through the hurdles you will surmount. These situations will or may arise from being overwhelmed while trying to strike balance with your previous commitments. Just like a dream thrown into space, you are floating right now, weary of the journey.

You will hate motivation, embrace it, you will hate this decision, fortify your thoughts, feels like you are not getting things right, and no amount of consolation or motivation will be soothing, it seems like no one understands your plight, you just want it all figured out as desired. In times like this, when words fail, do justice by ruthlessly evaluating your progress. Whenever it seems like there's none, try something different, you may just need a break from self-blame to get it all blazing.

You will or may get mentally occupied than anticipated, this adversely affects the time you spend on social media, visiting friends, being everywhere at all times, daily chores disrupted and routines left unvisited. You may need a guide to task prioritisation, with targeted goals driven as to what and necessity of such.

You will or may be stuck to everything while doing nothing, having an unending list of frameworks to learn, concepts to grasp, and structures to practice. The inability to put to task scheduling makes you vulnerable to achieving nothing as time passes by. For every opportunity, comes a prize to be paid, and the diligence to its consideration at a particular period of time is paramount.

You will always or sometimes be open to new strategies. You are always making researches on ways to get mastery, tips and tricks to learning, intensify your expertise and most importantly, how to be relevant in your chosen career path. Be encouraged, nothing great comes easy, growth comes from the place of difficulties, hardship and struggles, channel your aggression towards building your dreams, because it is indeed achievable.

”Strength and growth come only through continuous effort and struggle”-Napoleon Hill.

Enjoy your trip You have come this far to thrive and so is the drive. I am rooting for you, looking forward to all the innovations you have to offer. Remember, all our dreams can come through, if only we pursue them. You are enough and your ambition is valid.
